U14 Willen Rangers On Tour Holland

13th April 2017 – 17th April 2017

It was finally here! After months of planning and anticipation Rangers set off on their European Tour to Holland. At 6.30pm 31 excited players and supporters boarded their luxury coach to take us to Harwich for our overnight ferry crossing. After a little bit of traffic we made good time and was able to book onto our ferry with enough time to dump our luggage and explore the ferry (the adults soon found the bar ?) before heading back to the cabins for some shut eye.

An early morning docking in Holland with a short coach journey to Walibi World enabled us to grab a bite to eat before hitting the on-site theme park.

However, the boy’s thoughts soon turned to football and they took it upon themselves to go off for an impromptu training match……Following a bite to eat in the evening the boys headed off for a swim then back to bed to rest for the main event in the morning

The next morning (I’d like to say fully rested!)  We headed off to SV Huizen for our tournament. The club facilities were amazing and the club house was soon full of excited teams waiting to play some football. As European age groups span 2 years we were playing teams from the U15 age group. The lads put in a great performance for all their matches and came away unbeaten with the most points across all four U15 groups and winners of  the Tournament

An excited drive back to Walibi World where we were all ready for some food.  Another late night swimming session for the lads while the adults enjoyed their own championships….in Uno!

An early start the next morning for our exhibition match at VV Hattem, again playing an under 15 side (although some of them looked to be at least 16!). Our lads put in a very good performance against a very strong Dutch side and a referee that was certainly more than slightly biased! Final goals for the match was 3-3 and we come away undefeated in Holland

We managed to make it back to Walibi world for another quick circuit of the theme park and some go karting, not at all competitive though ? before carrying on the celebrations with food, drink and Uno for the adults and yet another swimming session for the lads, well if you can call trying to drown each other swimming ??

What a fantastic tour we had, everyone got along so well and it was great to bond socially with the players and parents. We are truly blessed with a great set of lads and supporters.

As soon as we made it back to UK soil the question was asked…….

Where are we going next year?!?!?!?

our recent visit to V.V. Hattem Holland for an exhibition match against their U15, Finished 3 goals each……Older Willen top is from U15 Saints visit in 2015!
